I finally got around to reading the news online. Not a painful process, just one which I had conveniently procrastinated over for a ridiculous amount of time. I went to Rikai and entered the URL of the Yomiuri Shinbun Online and simply read through the headlines, moving the cursor over the kanji combinations I didn't know (far more than I would like to admit). I watched the Olympics on TV last night which helped with comprehension. 薬物検査逃れ やくぶつけんさのがれ: "drug test fleeing" was the way the two Greek athletes were described. Note that 逃げる (にげる) can also be read as 逃れる (のがれる).
Ya might try POPjisyo.com too, it lets you add rss feeds to study with and such.
And there is a matching game thingy which lets you review the words in the page you are viewing.
